When Adam and Eve committed the first sin by eating from the forbidden tree, God promised to send a Messiah to save us from our sins. Many years later, the Angel Gabriel appeared to a young virgin in Nazareth named Mary. The angel told Mary that she was going to be the Mother of God! Mary and her husband, St. Joseph traveled to Bethlehem. There wasn’t room in any of the inns there so they stayed in a stable where animals were kept. While there, Mary gave birth to Jesus! Angels appeared to the shepherds tending their sheep and announced the birth of Jesus. They went to the stable to pay him homage. At the same time, three kings followed a very bright star in the sky. They believed that the star would lead them to a new king. They found Jesus lying in the manger. To honor him, they gave him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh. Today, we celebrate the birth of Jesus on Christmas. How can you celebrate Jesus’ birthday on Christmas?
